Casey Kasem’s wife has been served with documents that are revoking her rights to make decisions regarding her famous husband’s medical care. The documents were part of a California court order that was issued after Kasem’s children reported him missing. His wife and children have been battling over control of the icon’s care because he did not give anyone power of attorney for health care.
Kitsap County Sheriff’s deputies delivered the documents, which also give his daughter more authority to determine whether Kasem is receiving adequate medical treatment. Additionally, his daughter said through a spokesperson that she also has a court order from Washington, where she currently resides, that gives her the authority to see her father. A Los Angeles Superior Court judge ordered the stepmother to comply with its orders so that medical providers would be able to medically evaluate Kasem. Additionally, the judge instructed the stepmother to allow the daughter to have access to her father. The judge also ordered her to surrender Kasem’s passport.
The latest action was made after the stepmother and children were in a dispute because the children did not know their father’s whereabouts. Sheriff deputies were able to locate Kasem, who was with long-time friends. Additionally, police indicated that medications were available to him, along with other medical care. Kasem is currently suffering from Lewy Body Disease, a form of dementia.
